The Story

Everyone's favourite mouse-deer Sang Kancil appears to be lost in the enchanted forest and needs your help to find her way home to her family - but be warned, there are some cheeky animals in the forest bent on making your task a little challenging!  But not to worry! It's nothing a little quick thinking and cooperation cannot overcome!

The Experience

Sang Kancil and the Enchanted Forest is a location-based virtual reality (VR) experience to be enjoyed onsite with wireless VR headsets provided. The approximately 30-minute experience is free and is suitable for adults and children six years and above.

So reserve your session and head on down to your preferred location and step into the magical tale of Sang Kancil and the Enchanted Forest for an immersive, interactive experience filled with music, dance and adventure!

The Performers

The characters you encounter in this digital production are performed by dancers from Maya Dance Theatre and Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC).  Their dance movements were recorded using motion capture technology and mapped onto digital avatars and placed in immersive digital environments created by creative-tech studio Avventura.

Eva Tey | Sang Kancil

Eva Tey graduated with a First Class Honours, (BA) Degree in dance from Lasalle College of the Arts in 2014.

 

Since then, she has been performing and touring with Maya Dance Theatre. Eva has been learning Bharathanatyam from trainers, Kavitha Krishnan, Ajith Bhaskar (Malaysia) and Lakshmi Krishnan. As a contemporary dancer, she explores the nuances of Bharathanatyam within a contemporary space.

June Lin | Monkey

One of the founding members of Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC), June has extensive performance experience as a dancer. From international collaborations to productions and Arts Education Programmes, she’s done it all.

June has even represented Singapore in the Special Olympics Bowling team and won a bronze medal for the country!

Shahrin Johry | Tiger

A recipient of the National Arts Council Postgraduate Scholarship, Shahrin Johry graduated from Roehampton University, UK, with Master of Arts in Dance, Politics and Sociology in 2019. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore.

 

Shahrin is unique with various embodiments of cultures in his body that comes from Bharathanatyam, Javanese and Balinese dance as well as Western dance like Urban forms, Ballet and Contemporary dance. He uses art as a vehicle towards positive impact on society.

Weng Jiaying | Peacock

Since joining Diverse Abilities Dance Collective (DADC) in 2019 as a dancer, Jiaying has shown much development and is now a co-trainer of the team. She does administrative work in Apsara Asia Pte Ltd and supervises her colleagues in housekeeping of the space.​

Mohd Sharul | Crocodile

Mohd Sharul is a versatile dance artist with BA (Hons) Dance from LASALLE College of the Arts with multi-faceted experience in choreographic work, teaching and performance.

 

With wide experience performing on international stages and collaborative works, he is a Malay dance practitioner with Artiste Seni Budaya since 2007 and currently an associate artist with P7:1SMA dance company. 

Ashvika Vikneswaran | Maya

Ashvika is an aspiring performing artist studying Theatre at School of the Arts, Singapore. She has collaborated internationally on Letters From Dancing-In-Place with Rolypoly and Seet Dance, working with young dancers from Singapore and Sydney. She also performed in Sang Nila by Maya Dance Theatre and facilitated a children’s workshop at March On Festival at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
